A design bench to fight the Corona Virus.
Shield is the anti-Covid-19 concept collection of benches.
It is a contribute to the Covid 19 cause as designers and creatives, a starting point for living our cities in the coming months; a simple idea that make municipalities and cities available to share all public spaces together again in compliance with the rules!
Shield is a protective device for social distance and for living public space in safety.
Covid 19 has changed the life of all of us and also the urban dynamics; it is no longer possible to move freely and live our squares, streets and parks which are now limited spaces and prohibited due to blocking restrictions.
The benches are an indispensable urban furniture element in the architectural panorama of the public space which in recent weeks and all over the world have been prohibited with prohibitions and limitations and what was done first on a bench: sitting, relaxing and sharing experiences, today is forbidden.
This project was therefore born from the extreme need to return to our habits and normalcy soon, safeguarding health and limiting the spread of the Corona virus.
Antonio Lanzillo & Partners has therefore created a collection of benches with a protect & functional design; a metal and concrete version able to create a safety distance between people through some glass or plexyglass dividers thus limiting the possibility of contagion.
The transparency of the partitions will create a barrier, a protective shield for people who will use the bench with a limited aesthetic impact and in harmony with the surrounding environment with the wish and hope to return to live public spaces soon.
